Gertjie Williams is part of a family of Rugby and Cricket playing brothers who started his playing career in the form of friendly games on a Sunday afternoon with a tennis ball.
These games were between rival streets and offered much enjoyment. Makeshift score sheets were made and the results were very important to them. These records were kept in a safe place for verification. Gertjie always figured in the bowling.
