Dear Mike,

As discussed Kevin has had a chronic hip problem for some time now and the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that he is on crutches and takes pain killers on a daily basis. He requires an urgent replacement,however,he is not on medical aid and he cannot afford to pay for the procedure.
His contact details are listed below and I wonder if the Trust would consider assisting him financially with regard to the operation he requires.

Hi Mike

It is with amazement, a little hope and humility that I read your e-mail this morning.

The frustration and disappointment with our medical aid has been an ongoing saga
since February this year.

My orthopedic surgeon is Eugene Pelser ( an ex Northern Transvaal rugby player).
He did a total hip replacement to my right hip +/- 6 years ago.

When I saw him in February this year, he said that I would immediately need a total hip replacement
on the left hip. But as the medical aid restriction only ended in May he suggested that I walk with a crutch
to try and save it as much as possible.

The operation was to take place at the beginning of May but due to the short fall between what the
medical aid will pay and what the operation will cost I was unable to go ahead with it. I have all the
letters and reports from Eugene. I can forward them on to you.

If there is more information needed just let me know.

Once again, Mike, thank you for contacting me and forwarding my situation to the
Sports Legends Trust for possible assistance.

Just a little note to say, that everything is going well with the new hip. Started walking with one crutch this week.

Bossie, Hilary and I would like to say how much we appreciate what you and your trustees did for us.
